Extreme Weather Shelter
Extreme weather--too hot and too cold--can be dangerous to our unhoused neighbors, but Southside provides shelter during such times. Your donation helps us to provide a safe place, additional food, and cleaning supplies, and staff during dangerous weather.
Southside Community Center operates the local emergency weather shelter for all of Hays County. Southside opens its space as a warming shelter and emergency overnight shelter when temperatures drop below 35 degrees for more than three consecutive hours. Southside opens its space as a cooling shelter when temperatures are at or above 100 degrees for three or more consecutive hours.
Thank you for your generosity and care for our neighbors!
